Pont du Gard tickets and costs at a glance
The Pont du Gard is a Roman aqueduct bridge, and it is easy to plan once you know that three things are paid separately. Access to the bridge itself is free. Parking costs €9 per vehicle, regardless of how many people are inside or how long you stay while the site is open. The discovery areas, which are the museum, the cinema, Ludo and the temporary exhibition, are a separate ticket.
The Pont du Gard works well as a day trip from Avignon, and the site lies in the Gard, which has wine villages of its own. Chusclan, Saint-Gervais and Signargues are named villages of the Côtes du Rhône Villages in the Gard. If you prefer to leave the driving to someone else, the tour cards below show guided days from Avignon.

Which option fits your visit
Three common ways to do the Pont du Gard.
Only the bridge
You walk to the monument for free and pay only the €9 for parking per vehicle. The outdoor area is open daily all year from 8:00 to 24:00, so this works in winter too.
The exhibitions
The museum, cinema, Ludo and the temporary exhibition cost €8 for adults in 2026. They are closed in January, February, November and December. Under-18s on a family visit enter free.
A guided offer
Guided tours and activities cost €12 to €15 for adults, with reduced rates of €6 to €13 and €6 for children. Prices differ by offer, so check the one you want.
Opening hours and the winter break
The outdoor area and the discovery areas have different hours.
| Area | Hours |
|---|---|
| Outdoor area and bridge access | Daily all year, 8:00–24:00 |
| Discovery areas, March and October | 9:00–18:00 |
| Discovery areas, April to June and September | 9:00–19:00 |
| Discovery areas, July and August | 9:00–20:00 |
| Discovery areas, January, February, November, December | Closed |
The museum opens only at noon on Mondays, and the ticket desk closes 30 minutes before closing time. The next winter break of the discovery areas starts on 2 November 2026. Do not mix up the two zones: the outdoor area and the bridge stay open when the museum is closed, so a winter visit is still possible, just without the exhibitions.
Rules at the water
The river is part of the site, and a few rules apply.
No jumping, no swimming at the monument
Jumping from the bridge or from the rocks is banned, and so is swimming directly under the monument. At other parts of the bank there is no daily swimming permission and no lifeguard to rely on.
Dogs
Dogs must be on a leash in the outdoor area.
Protected surroundings
The natural setting is a Natura 2000 area and a biosphere reserve. That protection is not a licence to walk onto every part of the riverbank, so do not assume that every part of the bank is open.
Uzès: arcades and a Saturday market
Uzès is a natural stop on the same trip. Its Place aux Herbes, with arcades, lies in the historic centre. The market takes place on Saturdays, in the 2026 calendar from 7:30 to 13:30. A Pont du Gard ticket does not cover anything in Uzès, so plan entry fees there separately.
For wine fans, Uzès also gives its name to an appellation, the Duché d'Uzès, which is counted outside the Côtes du Rhône group, like Ventoux and Luberon. Tavel, by contrast, makes rosé only, and Laudun is now an independent cru. Our wine page explains the structure, and the day trips page adds Luberon and Les Baux-de-Provence.
